Celebrating Karl Lagerfeld: A Showcase of Emerging Talent at Bicester Village

During my tenure as the Art and Culture Ambassador and Creative Consultant to Value Retail in 2019, I had the privilege to work on an exciting project at Bicester Village. This involved the creation of a pop-up store in collaboration with the British Fashion Council (BFC), showcasing the innovative works of emerging talents, including Diane Bresson, a graphic design graduate from the University of the Arts London (UAL).

I discovered Diane’s talent during a visit to UAL, where her distinctive black and white graphic designs immediately caught my eye. Her work was a perfect blend of contemporary aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship, creating a visually captivating experience for visitors. Diane brought a unique and fresh perspective to the project, perfectly capturing the commemorative theme for Karl Lagerfeld with her intricate, monochromatic patterns.

The pop-up was part of a broader initiative to support and promote British designers by providing them with a platform to showcase their work and gain exposure. This initiative not only offered retail space but also included a mentorship program aimed at helping these designers navigate the commercial landscape and achieve sustained success. The collaboration with BFC underscored our commitment to nurturing emerging talents and celebrating the rich diversity of British design.

This project was a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of supporting new voices in the fashion industry. It was a memorable experience that underscored the value of creativity and innovation in shaping the future of fashion.
